Our residents enjoy seasonal food that not only looks and tastes delicious, but is also nutritious

A wide variety of home cooked meals are prepared by our in-house Chefs for residents to choose from. Only high quality and fresh ingredients from accredited suppliers are used.

Our food and dining service consists of breakfast, morning tea, a hot lunch with vegetables or salad or sandwiches and dessert, afternoon tea and a hot dinner with vegetables or salad or sandwiches and dessert. Some of our residents prefer their main meal to be lunch while others prefer their main meal to be dinner – so we offer both options. Fresh fruit, yoghurt and snacks are also available 24/7.

A variety of drinks are offered with all meals.

We are happy to accommodate individualised meal plans for our residents with specific dietary requirements.

We also offer food molds for residents who are on texture modified diets because of swallowing difficulties.

Residents can choose to have their meals in the main dining room, delivered to their room or another location (such as the garden or outdoor areas) if they prefer.

Our menus are endorsed by Dieticians and each meal is nutritionally evaluated.

Meet our Executive Chef

No one knows the importance of food presentation and taste and is more passionate about making sure our residents continue to derive pleasure from their meals than our Executive Chef, Dean Stapleton.

Dean Stapleton is a highly qualified chef with more than 30 years in the food industry. He has been heading up the catering department at CraigCare since 2015. Over that time he has won the hearts and tummies of our residents through his mouth watering and restaurant quality dishes. His signature dishes for this Spring/Summer include:

  • Seafood filo parcel
  • Mediterranean tart
  • Panna cotta raspberry coulis, and
  • Sticky date pudding.

For Dean, the most rewarding part of his job is not only in the words of thanks from our residents and families, but the empty plates left after meal time and the requests for seconds.

Explore a sample of our Spring / Summer menu


  • Continental (5-6 days): hot porridge, 5 cereals, toast (white, wholemeal, wholegrain) and crumpets, fruit salad, yoghurt, prunes
  • Cooked breakfast (1-2 days): eggs (scrambled or poached), sausages, bacon, baked beans, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms
  • Choice of 4 juices, a variety of teas, coffee, milo and hot chocolate


  • The choice of a hot meal or salad or sandwiches.
    • Example hot meals include: Italian meatballs, roast beef, Shepherd’s pie, battered fish, roast pork with apple sauce, chicken & leek pie, pasta bolognaise, zucchini onion slice, macaroni pesto cheese, Mediterranean tart, salt and pepper calamari, silverside mustard sauce, bacon mushroom filo parcel, spinach ricotta cannelloni, seafood basket, grilled sausages, Irish Guinness beef stew
    • Example vegetables include: scallop potato, roasted sweet potatoes, mashed potato, broccoli, roast pumpkin, roast carrots, green beans
  • Dessert – profiteroles, chocolate sponge, stewed cinnamon apples and custard, berry topped pavlova, fruit trifle, creamed rice pudding, apple rhubarb with custard, golden syrup pudding with cream, tiramisu, upside-down pineapple cake, crème caramel, panna cotta raspberry coulis, baked egg custard with butterscotch sauce, apple crepe with warm caramel sauce
  • Choice of 4 juices, a variety of teas, coffee, milo and hot chocolate
  • Selection of wines and beers

Afternoon Tea

  • Selection of fresh fruit, sandwiches, cakes or slice. Examples include: savoury scones, fruit platter, sultana sponge, chocolate truffles, sausage rolls, apple tea cake, bacon and cheese scones, carrot cake, muesli slice, apple crumble slice
  • Choice of 4 juices, a variety of teas, coffee, milo and hot chocolate

Morning tea

  • Examples include: butter cake lemon frosting, apple tea cake, fruit cake, sugar cinnamon donuts, caramel slice, jam and cream scones, vanilla slice, apple cinnamon muffin, coconut raspberry slice, marble cake, jam and cream sponge cake, chocolate chip muffins
  • Choice of 4 juices, a variety of teas, coffee, milo and hot chocolate

Three Course Dinner

  • Example soups include: pea and ham, minestrone, beef and vegetable, potato and bacon, chicken and mushroom, sweet potato, tomato and basil, chicken and corn, pumpkin
  • The choice of a hot meal or salad or sandwiches.
    • Example hot meals include: braised steak and onions with mashed potato and peas, pasta carbonara, sweet and sour pork with rice, chicken schnitzel, homemade pizza with garlic bread and salad, roast chicken and chips, beef lasagne, curried sausages with mashed potato and honey carrots, ham and pumpkin frittata with sweet potato mash and beans, seafood parcel, pork and apple rissoles with coleslaw and pasta salad, steamed soy ginger fish fillet with Asian greens, beef rissoles with potato salad, chicken a la king on spinach mashed potato
    • Example desserts include: sticky date pudding, strawberry cheesecake, crème caramel, fruit salad, chocolate sponge and custard, panna cotta raspberry coulis, ginger pudding custard, poached pears and custard, apple pie and cream, rice pudding, peach crumble and ice cream
  • Choice of 4 juices, a variety of teas, coffee, milo and hot chocolate
  • Selection of wines and beers

Food Celebrations

At CraigCare, we celebrate many occasions with food. Each month we organise between 3-7 special events which we highlight through our food. Aside from the obvious special days such as Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Anzac Day, Christmas and Easter, some of our other events include:
